This costs about the same as the one I want to build would cost plus its balanced and I dont have to build it and that gives me a better chance of getting it. Just thought I'd see your thoughts on it.

$3800 isent too bad crate engine speaking. Cams are a un known factor, and the 430hp and 450lbs/ft are with a victor Jr intake, so I would guess more like 410-415hp. Also, to make that much power with a 9:1 vortec headed 383 you'd need a BIG cam, much bigger then what stock vortec heads can handle. See if you can get us some more info.

Engine advice
 

The price on that shortblock is not a big bargain. Look around at some of the bigger engine advertisers, you can get a long block for about the same money. Whats wrong with a GM crate motor, they give a warranty and they are brand new? There are a ton of engine builders out there all looking to make a living, ask lots of questions about what your getting and what they are using parts wise, any tech support, or garuntees and have them put it in writing-- thats the real test!

I sent them an e-mail asking what size cam the engine uses and all they said was "we design the cams for the strokers,with the right combo they will make over 500HP." This doesnt help much. I am considering a GM Performance engine just need to look into all the possibilities

I have heard from multiple people, one on CT that have had good experiences with these people. Plus, they offer a good warranty. This is a higher priced one, but they have several on eBay. Read some of the feedbacks, they are all good.

After reading over all the details on that motor, and all the goodies etc. thrown in, if that motor can be bought for $3360, you'd have a hard time putting it together for that. Might be a good deal to check out! Thanks for the info "RED"

That motor on ebay is a good deal. Deff. not a very good street motor though with 215cc intakes, 2.05 intake valve and that big cam. Unless of course you have a manual or 2500-3000rpm stall convertor, then it could work. If any of you guys are considering using that place its in phoenix so I could go check out the quality of the work before you buy. Personlly, if I had to get a 383 crate Id go with GM's version.
