Army Surplus Blazers For Sale, MN

These are not mine. I saw them at a dealer in Little Falls, while visiting my mom. I grew up watching these things drive by, Camp Ripley, the main MN army reserve base is just north of town. I'm guessing the guy bought these at the surplus auction for practically nothing. There is a 3rd one behind the shop also. Of course they are stripped down army, with diesels. Not the good diesels either. But they did have some cool add ons, like dual batteries and dual alternators, tough tow rings front and rear, good rubber, hydro assist brakes and that awesome army paint. Probably have posi axles too.

Very Cool! No doubt they will be "rare collectors items" in 20 years or so. One question, does anyone know what the thing on the inner bed pannel is. Looks like it has wires running to it???

Those white things are for the new recruits. You throw the greenhorn in the back seat with no seatbelt. You take a few sharp left-hand turns and if they hit the white bars they get the **** zapped out of them.

Each blazer had some unique mounts in them for unknown things. All you really need though is someplace to mount the machine gun and spot light, and a place for the beer cooler.

Even though those aren't the good deisels, they still run decent and can get pretty good MPG if tuned right. IIRC they come with one ton axles, right?? I'd dig on one for a trail, DD, beater, but you and I can go to the auctions and buy direct and get the $100-600 dollar deals that this guy got.

The blazer do not have the one ton axles in em, just the trucks.

You can find the trucks for similar prices and even lower directly for the Gov.
and get a nice axles set w/4:56's and normally a Detroit in the rear.

My set out of an 86 CUCV w/the H2's and 37" MTR's. :D

Critter,

Those things on the side of the bed are for hooking radios up to. The rack mounts up above there and the power cables hook onto those bars.

They're also 24v systems and the trans has no overdrive. By the time you hit freeway speed, the engine is screaming. Still, I used to have a fantasy about buying one and equipping it with A/C and slipping it into our convoy before going to the field.

They're pretty robust and they have to pass a technical inspection before they're turned in, so they're usually in pretty good mechanical shape.
