I'm not well versed on the square bodies. Why is this one "super rare" It is a nice original survivor, but I didn't know '77 swb trucks were super rare. Is that a true statement?

Its a darn nice truck but im not seeing the "super rare" either. I think maybe '77 was the only year for the yellow accent on the body molding but other than that I dont see anything that makes it rare. I dont have anything bad to say about the truck though, its in great shape.

Maybe im reading too far into this but how can you claim your truck to be one owner and say the exterior paint looks to still be all original?

Re: i want this truck!

Maybe the "Rare" comment has to do with the condition? I'd have to say it is indeed rare to find one in the condition this one looks to be in.

I'd love to have it and would leave it just as it is.

Seems that he really doesn't know much about trucks or just -that- truck because he says it has power disc brakes and clearly doesn't..

I spoke to someone today and he said he flew out to buy that truck , but didnt . He called me from my ad on ebay when the black truck was listed . He was interested in the black truck and the tan truck . I put a price on them so we will see what happens . Not reall excited about selling either one .

in my opinion,it's a very nice, low milage truck,in excellent condition from what we can see of it...but,it's a six cylinder with painted bumpers.i think he should be happy with the 8 grand.i don't know what his reserve is.but, after about three try's on ebay of not meeting his reserve, it should be a pretty good indicator for him of what the truck's worth is.ebay, like it or not.is a good indicator of what the world is willing to pay for something.it reminds me what mine looked like before i it started in on it.

if i wasn't part of the "economic depression" ie- laid off & looking for a job! i would have already bought the truck. i agree that if he hasn't sold it on ebay & can't get the reserve met that he is asking too much. although he may not really be trying to sell it. he may be trying to see if there are any "barret-jackson" buyers out there. i sure do really like that truck though.......

I agree, I sent him a question asking about it...I'll let you know what his reply is.

Wow, that was a quick reply, here is what he sent back: "IM SECOND OWNER AND IT LOOKS LIKE TO ME LIKE PAINT IS ORIGINAL IM NOT AN EXPERT JUST MY OPINION"

Hmm makes me wonder...he described it as a "one owner" truck yet he is the second owner???

If he's the second owner, there was only one owner before him hence the "own owner" description. It's a common description used by guys that buy old vehicles to turn because it conveys the vehicle was maintained by one vs. passed down through many different owners (w/varying quality on upkeep).

I did not know that...you learn something new every day I guess! IMO though that's false advertising, as in reality the truck has had more than one owner.

It's only false advertising if he was trying to mislead by indicating he was the original & only owner. He gave a description & you took it from there. My boss told me one day he was getting me some help for my over-worked area. That help turned out to be my new boss where I was expecting some 'help'. He didn't lie.... it just wasn't what I had deducted from the statement.

Re: i want this truck!

Like I said it's just my opinion, and I'm not trying to start a fight, but to me "one owner" means the truck is still in the hands of the person who originally bought it, and the ownership hasn't switched names at all. This truck has had the ORIGINAL owner plus the guy who is selling it now. 1+1=2, not 1 IMO.

No one's fighting w/you. I just added my experiences.

I bought my 74 from a "one owner" add in the newspaper when the guy was actually dead. For the important particulars, my truck was owned & maintained by a single person. Once he died & the truck was passed on to another (his son-in-law), it technically had a second owner from your perspective. The guy I bought the truck from was not being deceptive when he placed the newspaper advertisement.... the story was easier to tell once a serious buyer stepped up to the plate vs. the tire kickers. His add gave the best description for the truck in the briefest form.

My opinion is . . .... For anyone serious about a vehicle based on the description in an advertisement, it would be worth asking the person who placed the ad for the trucks specifics vs. assuming they're being mis-leading from the ads text.
