serptine belt conv....
i converted over to the serpentine belt when i first built my motor and put new accessories on, since have had a problem with my power stud on the back side of my alt seems to be shorting out and cooking my alt by jumping to the valve cover. can i get a bigger belt than the one i have and use the old style alt bracket and move the alt a bit away from the valve cover... any ideas would be a great help. tired of buying altenators

I have not seen them mounted with old style brackets. It would probably throw off the alignment. How about finding/making a rubber cover for the stud. I know several style vehicles use a cover over the stud to prevent it form shorting against something

The serp set ups have a stationary alt.
Find a way to insulate it, that's about all you can do. |

You can re-clock the alternator. Loosen and remove the screws holding the rear case on. Pull it apart slowly taking care not to disturb the the brushes and turn the case to where you want it. Check out these links for more details.
