Went to the local pick and pull Saturday morning, major score. (That sounds like a mobster talking. LOL). Found a 75 Silverado and grabbed the following, wood grain dash bezel, headliner along with all the associated trim, aluminum sill plates. Also snatched the complete power window/door lock harness from a Blazer to match my Blazer PW/PDL doors. Took the “Cargo Lamp” switch too, it was mounted in the driver side “B” pillar cover.
I’ll be covering the headliner board with a different color and using SEM coat on the trim pieces. Went ahead and installed the stuff in my truck this morning, figure it’s safer there than in the garage. The truck was amazing, like looking in a time capsule, totally stock and untouched after all these years. The seat was in awesome shape and the carpet looked really well for its age. Sadly though, cancer had taken out the body. |

Well,
I finally got a few minutes today to finish installing the new chrome stuff on the BBC. I've got to clean up the garage and then I'm gonna start on the inside this week and get the new DD Instrument cluster put in. http://www.a2zcs.com/files/972.jpg Kenny |
Re: What did you get done? 07/27
Ok well another non stop weekend
Saturday morning up on the roof to fix a little leak that turned into 4 four hours replacing the last 3 rows of shingle and adding new drip molding .So now after it raining for 36 straight days at my house it didn't rain all weekend so I can't tell if it is fixed or not. then to the trucks pulled the front sheet metal off the black short bed http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...AREPICS012.jpg and put the 350/700r4 combo from the suburban in place this took forever because the old motor mounts were in bad shape and wouldn't go together so had to pull it out replace the mounts and put it back in Sunday stripped out the cab on Rusty the 83 long bed http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...AREPICS007.jpg It's interesting the surprises you can find in old vehicles . the truck came with a indian blanket cheapo seat cover that was filthy so as I was stripping the cab I pulled the seat and took off the cover and was shocked to find the stock vinyl seat in almost perfect condition one small penny size tear from being pinched . scrubbed it down and was amazed at the look cut rocker patches out of the burb and made repairs to Rusty's rusty ones put the burb padding , carpet and revived seat and is looking much better pull the power window set ups out of the burb doors that are on Rusty now and gave Rusty the roll up mechanisms lots to do when yer working on building two from three Mark |

Started the weekend by dropping the front of my blazer down another inch. I always thought the front sat a little too high. So I was going to pull out my Belltech 2" drop springs and replace them with my 3" Ground Force (Summit brand) drop springs that I had laying around. When I got them side by side, the Ground force Springs were already 2 inches shorter. I know when I installed the 2" Belltech springs and 2.5" ECE drop spindles,... my drop equalled roughly 4.5 inches total. So to make a long story short,... I cut 1/2 coil off my Belltech springs and reinstalled them. I gained 1 1/8" of additional drop. Has anyone ever install the 3" Summit brand springs and got over 3" of drop? Here's a few before and after pics,...

I managed to squeeze out the rest of the body work on the driver side front fender....and then made a mad dash to the hospital to be there for the birth of my new son.
Little bugger ruined my plans on getting the driver door done  |

Re: What did you get done? 07/27
I finally got my aluminum water pump from Fedex. I mocked it up and measured for a serp belt and after a run to the parts store the front of my motor is finally done. I picked up the correct water neck and upper radiator hose to clear the alt on the serp setup and finally found some socket head bolts for my oil pan. I cleaned the garage up and started getting everything ready for the engine swap this coming weekend.
I sprayed my engine compartment and suspension crossmember down with some degreaser and after 20 minutes drove it to the car wash and hosed it all off. It actually worked very well and I think I should be able to freshen up the paint on the inner fenders, firewall, core support without too much more elbow grease. |

Saturday: Drilled the holes to install the 700R4 in place of the TH350 in my Jimmy and got it all bolted up.
http://www.captkaoscustoms.com/Jimmy/700trans.jpg Sunday: Made some modifications to the current kick panels we offer to completely clear the parking brake. Started installing the Thorley Headers in it. Only got one side done though before it got too late. http://www.captkaoscustoms.com/Jimmy/thorley_hdr.jpg |

Re: What did you get done? 07/27
I retarded my timing a little bit more.
Dropped the rear of my truck with 2inch shackles. Installed new shocks all the way around...with freaking amazing results. Well worth the $75 for the monroe gas-matic shocks. Got my blinkers working finally...sort of. They work as long as i don't hit the brakes!!! So i have more gremlins to deal with. |

If it is the turn signals, have you tried some contact cleaner in your turn signal switch? Give it a shot of De-oxide, or some generec contact cleaner and see what happens. |
Re: What did you get done? 07/27
that 71 blazer is hands down my favorite looking truck, i would love to get my hands on one of those to make it a project truck. I love my lil box but that thing is awesome, i love the fact that you can take the top of and it looks like a convertible swb.
