how dificult

ok guys, i have a 80's something 4x4 s10, no title. i would liek to make this truck a drag truck only toy and i have just the engine. its a sbc 400 with a th350 behind it.

now my question is, how dificult would it be to turn this 4x4 s10 into a 2wd style drag truck?

worth it? after all, the truck was given to me and the engine and tranny are just sitting in my garage.

thanks guys for your input. i hope this turns out do-able.

That all depends, I wouldn't bet on the diffs to handle much more than stock power. The swap isn't much harder than doing it to a 2wd. they make a special oil pan you would need to in order to fit over the front diff. everything else should be the same as for difficulty.

well wouldn't the front diff and all that come out?

and this is going to be a drag truck....the rear dif will end up being a shortned 9" more then likly.

8.8 rear out of a leaf rear explorer is a direct bolt in. thtas the rear most swap in as they are real stout.

Oh since that's the case, And since I didn't read clearly your first post. I would suggest comparing the frame's between a 2wd and 4wd. I think they are different. I remember awhile back I had a 4wd parts S10. And I had looked at doing just the opposite to a 2wd I had. It was going to be more work than I wanted to get into.

Yes, front frame sections are different. There was a guy in my town that did one years ago. He cut off the front end and welded a 2wd frame stub back in place. He said it was the best option.
