New project 86 lwb
5 Attachment(s)
Paid $350 for it with a rod knock went to drive it home made it two feet and it was done for. Put a set of rallys on it and throw a small block in it and see what it runs. This will be a low buck build so here the starting point.

Re: New project 86 lwb
thats a great start to a project.. my leaky the first 86 i had was a similar situation... i saw it on a tow truck and chased it down bought it with a blown 4.3 swapped out the motor with a junkyard one and drove it for two years then put in a junkyard trans... sold it for like $600 to a chick who drove it to texas
good luck with yours and keep us updated |
Re: New project 86 lwb
the engine is a 4.3 and a rod let lose. I went to the junkyard today but there was no good small blocks to start with. I have a good start to a sb with a lunati 290/297 duration 490 lift cam, 2.02/1.5 heads *started life as 1.94* and torker or a rpm intake. I built a sb two years ago and im starting over so that is what im left with and the engine only had 3000 miles on it.

Re: New project 86 lwb
Are those slicks on the back ?
|
Re: New project 86 lwb
Yes they are 27.4x10.5x15 they are off a short track car. A friend works at the junkyard and he saves me the best ones *the owner has 2 race cars so there 16 slicks every monday or tuesday* and i get them for $10.80 for 2

Re: New project 86 lwb
I love those old hubcaps. Wanna donate to my collection of stray parts?
No, I'm not kidding. Love the truck, I've always been partial to the GMC grille, and that's rough enough that no one will feel bad about any cutting. With the slicks it reminds me of my friends 454 powered beast, a lot of 5.0 stangs got burnt by that old truck with the cow poop smell (his family owned a dairy farm). |
Re: New project 86 lwb
I think those old hub caps are from a 70"s ford pick up
those steps in the side of the cab will get good money at the scap yard and bring you one more mile per gallon in gas milage {hint} :) I like a clean look Mark |
Re: New project 86 lwb
steps are coming off and those hub caps are ford

Re: New project 86 lwb
I went and picked up a block that i gave a friend 2 years ago and did not use and has been hinting to come get it for sometime now. He got a good deal on a zz4 throw his work. Its a 1970 010 4 bolt main with a bad main bearing. So a crank and a set of pistons and i should be good.**I dont like cutting cranks**
