What did you get done? 08/10
I spent yesterday washing trucks most of the day. It rained several times this week and I had a driveway full of dirty black trucks. That combined with yard work and pool maintenance took up most of Saturday.
Today I went to the hardware store and exchanged some pipe fittings to finish my sprinkler system updates. I "think" I have everything I need this time. Picked up a new shop vac while I was there. My old one died a while back and I never replaced it. They had a Rigid on sale so I loaded it up. I spent the rest of the afternoon trying to solve a clogged drain issue. If you have any plumbing knowledge please look here-Is there a plumber in the house? What did you get done? http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pro...6beb72_300.jpg |

Started putting my truck back together. The accessories, fans and belts are the last to go on and I should be up and driving next weekend.
My 6 month old daughter said DA DA today.:metal::metal::metal: |

Re: What did you get done? 08/10
I worked all day yesterday but today my buddy & I got out in the 105° sun & welded up most of the remaining holes on the firewall of my 68. All that's left is the panel where the heater core passed through & then adding the 'new' corner on the pass side so it is a mirror image of the drivers side.
We had to clean-up & play 'movers' for my GF after that. Her mom gave her a nice hutch for some collectables. Of course, this 'new' item had to go into the extra bedroom....... the one that's @ the top of the stairs. |

well i pulled the front end off, then pulled the motor and trans and fuel tank, took most of the interior out, then pressure cleaned the engine bay had a look at someone dodgy repair on the rh frame rail, sprayed every bolt with wd-40... had a closer look at the engine and came to the conclusion that its gonna b cheaper to get a 6.0l crate motor than to work the 5.0l, i stared at the rust i gotta fix - theres not much but i wish it would go away...

Went to a big meet at Treasure Island with all my old MR2 buddies. Good food and company. Got sunburned too.
Sunday, well, family drama that involved me and a buddy heading down to Lathrop to save my aunt and cousins... |

I built the center console for my Dually. I made the cardboard templates then cut and fit all the wood pieces. Came out sweet! now I just have to cover it and mount it in the cab. I also ordered a new carpet set and dash cover.

I bought a radiator for my driver as it sprang a leak on me, Got a larger 2 row aluminum one (much larger that would fit). I am working on getting either a set of electric fans, or putting the shroud back on.

I finally got my engine installed. I ran it up to the gas station and made a trip to the parts store to show my parts guy the finished product. Ive still got a few bugs to work out (throttle cable too long for the new carb) but she is running!
Included is a pic of the '86 my buddy let me borrow while mine was in the garage. |

Well, I'm kinda been MIA around here. My weekends have been somewhat time-consuming.
I was able to wash and wax (with a liquid clay bar) the truck. It's getting tougher and tougher to maintain the shiny coat. (Feeding the truck oats just doesn't seem to help. ;) ) I also was able to change the oil and filters on the truck as well as lube the suspension joints and pack the wheels. Because of a questionable fuel delivery problem, I replaced the fuel filter and the fuel pump. Prior to replacing the fuel filter and the fuel pump, the truck hesitated once while heading down to the Rocky Mountain Street Rod Nationals a few weeks ago. The show was enjoyable as always with a few fresh rods. I can appreciate the creativity and work (and $$$) that they put into these rods. On my second outing a couple of weeks later, I was cruizing through Denver and, along the way, I caught up with a nicely-customized blue 80s Chevy with a silver semi-ghost flames that had been statically dropped. It was being trailer'ed. A sign of things to come... After stopping in Denver, the truck hesitated again. But, this time much worse. Suffice it to say, I ended up leaving it in Denver and trailer'ed it back home after the weekend was over. I was heading down to a memorial among a few other activities. One of those activities was a rafting trip down the Arkansas river. It was my first time rafting. Coincidently, on the morning of the rafting trip, I was shown an article in the local newspaper of someone slipping off of a rock and falling into the Arkansas river the night before. A sign of things to come... Unfortuately, I don't know if they found him yet. We started the rafting trip hitting a couple of short rapids. It wasn't bad at all. But, the thought was a bit premature. We hit the first rapid of Three Rock Falls very hard. I then realized that I wasn't locked in place. (They had me on the lead paddle.) Well, I ended up going down the class IV minus rapids of Three Rock Falls in my PFD (personal floatation device) instead of in the raft. Aside from a few bumps and bruises from the river rocks and boulders, I made it back into the raft. Fortunately, the rest of the rafting trip wasn't quite as eventful, but exciting none the less. I'd like to try Three Rock Falls again, but this time in the raft. The following weekend, I was invited to go 'rock' climbing at Three Sisters (large granite outcroppings). Since they didn't use equipment, I figured it was more like rock hiking. But, come to find out it wasn't. It was a combination of rock hiking and climbing only at a smaller scale. But, it was still very challenging. I managed to stay upright throughout the course. Then, the last weekend I headed down to work at the annual festival... grilling corn. Yup, grilling corn manually in front of a large 8-burner grille in 106* temperature. At least, we were under a shade tent. But, it was all for a good cause. We ended up grilling peaches and cream corn... or as one of the senior lady customers said "peaches and sugar". I don't think we did as well as last year, but the increase in price probably offset the sales. I have a year to get ready for the next one. BTW, Slonaker, the corn was very tasty. Well, it turns out that the gasket on the base of the carburetor has a hairline crack in it and would expand as the temperature increased, causing a vacuum leak and the probable hesitation. The rotor and cap was also replaced. I have a few other things to do to it like replacing the trans gasket and replacing the valve cover gasket on the driver side. As much as I dread using adhesives on valve covers, I'm going to have to resort to using some this time around. I've tried both rubber and cork gaskets with not much luck. The truck just hit the quarter-century mark, so it'll be all 'down' ;) hill from here (or near future) on out... |
Re: What did you get done? 08/10
I spent the day finishing the front brakes, steering and lower ball joint on my 4x4 suburban. Time consuming it was, trying to get to a point where everything was ready to bolt together. I kept finding one problem after another.

Re: What did you get done? 08/10
Finally getting to work on it. Back half first, then put back together enough to be a roller and disassemble the front. Repeat. Then put all back together. That's the plan anyways.
