Drop spindle to top A-frame clearance

1 Attachment(s)
I nned a little info. I just put on a set of early classic's drop spindles. I noticed that when I check their turning stroke that they hit the top a-frame and will not swivel all the way. Is this because they are in an unload position, no engine with weight on wheels, or do I need to do a little trim work?

This is my first restro, so all this is new to me. I'll attach a pic. Maybe someone can see where I am talking about it hitting. I think it will be towards the right of the picture.

Any help appreciated.

i didnt have this problem...put a jack under it and then try to turn it, see if it is cause you have no pressure

My 2 1/2" drop McGaughy's spindles did the same thing when unloaded, They were fine with weight on them but I removed about 1/16th to 1/8th inch from the upper control arm just to be safe.

clearance

I have the Early Classic dropped spindles and had the same concern so I called Early Classic. They said its fine, when the weight is put on it the gap will open up.
From other ones I have seen it should be about 1/4" or so with all the weight on it.

I never noticed any problem like that with mine, at least not that I remember...I did mine 3 or 4 years ago...it should be perfectly fine once it's loaded.
