Re: tilt hood kits...Any pics?

Re: tilt hood kits...Any pics?
I used the Buick hinge on my S-10, easy swap. Sure does make changing plugs a breeze, no more head hitting the hood. LOL.

Re: tilt hood kits...Any pics?
It's a cool mod, I just hate the way it covers the grill when open.

Re: tilt hood kits...Any pics?
Thats was me in the what did you get done...
It really turned out to be a bigger PITA than I originally planned. But I'm not the best fabricator. I still haven't got the receivers figured out. One thing I did find is that you want to brace under the stop bumpers. When the hood is open it puts too much strain on that spot.. Mine are bent down now, but I'll probably design a better system next go round. Check this thread out from FSC, thats where I got the idea http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/...g-my-hood.html |
Re: tilt hood kits...Any pics?
im gonna try to do it, waitin till my local junkyard calls me back to see if they have any, i may need the help of those of you that have done it.

For the rear receivers/bump stops on my 74 C10 I had the same problem but figured out how to use the ones off the Buick as well. I modified them as below then swapped the right side off the Buick to the left side on the truck visa-versa. Then I made the "L" bracket that holds the Buick striker/rollers ? that mount to the rear stock hinge bolt hole on the hood, You can see the flat washers under this "L" bracket used to adjust the rear of the hood level with the fenders. The stock hood bump stops on the cowl will have to be removed to use the rear Buick slider track system. http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...100_6008-2.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...d/100_6283.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...d/100_6281.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...d/100_6280.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...d/100_6279.jpg I did all this just before I stripped the truck to the frame for the restore 5 years ago, That's the reason for the rust/unpainted pieces but will be detailed before re-assembly. This set-up works just as perfectly as Buick intended it to on their cars....http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...s/thumbsup.gif |

Definately a modification geared toward the enthusiast who wishes for easier accessibility to the middle/rear most portions of the engine. While doing so quite hideosly (sp?), the function-over-form aspect is apparent without question. |
