i am finally able to post about a truck i own 1957 task force. i needs a lot of attention everywhere but im planning to make it a daily driver type truck. running good and fully functioning then move on to other parts from there. |

thanks for the welcome. ive been following your thread CAL 58 since i found this site it is fitting the you should be on he cover of classic trucks.
here are a few more picts of the truck before i bought it. the po had it on blocks about 4 in the front and 5 in the rear i ordered new u-bolts to bring it back to stock and i plan on lowering a bit more than that. i am thinking of keeping the flat look but changing the color and possibly w/ a white top. i would love any sugestions. any photoshopers that would like to share what they think would be a cool look for my daily driver? thanks |

hey i got the truck lowered down about 6 or so inches.
i put some tires that were laying around on it and the black wheels. it looks better. still need to drive it to see what else it needs, but thats the fun part, usually. i would still like to get lower but... maybe later. |
Re: new to me 1957 3100

Re: new to me 1957 3100
Looking good. If you're going to keep the paint flat I think black would look cool.

im back! i was driving the truck for a little bit but i hated the ride.
the whole front needed to be overhauled, i didnt want to spend $ doing that knowing that i really wanted to put an ifs under this. so i have an 1980 camaro subframe on another frame now and i plan on doing the swap. i know i will be asking for advice but i would like some ideas to make this a smooth transition. im planning on this being my daily driver. thanks guys |

suicidoors
That is a sweet truck, holla if you decide to move onto something else... reminds me of my 57 I used to use at ascot park to push start the midgets and sprints..... did several turkey nights until they shut her down.... sold the truck and wished I hadn't... loooooove big windows.... |

i got some work on the truck done tonight. this is the most attention ive given this truck in about three years! the weather was nice and my "garage" had just enough light, with a flashlight too, for me to remove the front sheet metal.
im excited to get the new (old) frame to my house and see how the 57 looks on it. |
Re: new to me 1957 3100
didnt think you'd do it.....
you got any other pics with the slammed blue c10? |

Re: new to me 1957 3100
i did a compression test today with my brother. the motor was not warmed up and heres what we got.
158 #8 #7 160 150 #6 #5 160 130 #4 #3 158 160 #2 #1 170 i honestly dont know if these # are bad or good. anyone have any info or advice? i believe its better to have the #s closer together but i have a range from 170 all the way to 130... thanks |
Re: new to me 1957 3100
yo yo suicidoors
your best bet is to find a ''motors manual'' that carries your year motor - look up the #s that are on the back of the block - should be a 7 number code - unless you already know what the motor came out of . i have a 70's motor manual and it gives me all that kind of info for GM cars and trucks.usually the higher #s arn;t a bad compression - the 130 i aint so keen on. Hope this helps a li'l . i am sure others will have good advice here also . juss my 3 cents worth - good luck |
Re: new to me 1957 3100
still at it...
i have the cab swapped out to the new frame and im now mocking up the front sheet metal. i had to move the radiator support back toward the grill to line up the radiator mounting tabs on the new frame. now my og radiator will fit without a problem but the radiator tabs seem a bit too high, i believe the front frame horns are set up a bit too high which is the real issue. well see. picts coming soon. |
Re: new to me 1957 3100
its been slow working on the truck. but my dad and brother have been rekindling my interest in an inline. and now i have access to a "built" 292 with split exhaust and four barrel intake and a 5 speed already attached to it also with the deal is a camaro 3.08 rearend. all for pretty close to the cost of new split headers and an intake.
what do you guys think? |
Re: new to me 1957 3100
Nice truck, I too just got my first classic truck (58 apache) and can't wait to tear into it. Please show more interior pics, looks custom.
