How to adjust tailgate?
One other thing in my bedliner saga...the guy who was going to spray it noticed something I've never seen, and that's the fact that the left side of my tailgate is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch lower than the side of the bed, while the passenger side is perfect.
How exactly do I adjust it? It looks like removing the rear bumper will make it a lot easier to get at the bottom bolt on the hinge... |
I wouldn't pull the bumper, it is more work to get that lined up then the gate is.
Don't remove the bolts, just loosen them a little. then pull/push on the gate, and shut it. Once you have it right, get back in there and tighten it before you bump it and move it again. I found a 3/8 inch rachet with a couple universials and extentions worked best for the bottom, and an open/box wrench for the top one. |
Okay then, I'll give it a shot tomorrow...when we (myself and the two guys who were going to spray the liner in) tried to do it at the shop today, they didn't have enough extensions to get in there at the bottom one...the top was no problem with a deepsocket and a short extension, though. The bottom...well, I've got at least two 12" extensions and probably three 3" extensions. That should be enough. :D
I really oughta buy a universal one of these days...I have some universal sockets, but they're metric! |
I found on mine that there wasnt a whole lot of room for adjustment. I didnt have to take off the rear bumper, because I had no rear bumper. Good luck though
