1987 6.2 diesel swap in gas 350,454

hey guys, im new to the 73-87 board, i have a few 67-72 trucks. Anyways im looking into buying a 87 chev rollback with a 6.2 diesel engine in it, it has a 4 speed trans i belive. i want to put in a good running 350, or 454 gas motor. what is all involved? motor mounts the same? belhousing? fuel lines? can i just flush the fuel tank and lines out, and put gas in there? thanks guys!!

Motormounts and bellhousing for the 6.2 are the same as other Chevy engines. Very swappable. Fuel lines on an 87 cab and chassis with a diesel are very close if not exactly like a carbed truck from 86 or earlier. Same with the fuel tanks but you may want to do more than flush them. They are cheap to just replace (about 100 bucks a piece) so you may just want to do that to prevent problems down the road. If you want to just use them, make sure you install a fuel filter that's easy to get to in case you end up with some crud dropping off the inside of the tank when it gets gas in it.

I can understand wanting more power than the 6.2 has for a big truck, but you're gonna hate the mileage...

you could take the tanks out and bring em to a radiator shop and have em boiled out to get rid of any diesel residue

I pulled a 6.2 @ installed a 350 gas into my 83 gmc 4x4 years ago @ never had any problems. I had a muffler shop put new down pipes in @ connected that to the old exhaust. the hot wire that run the injecter pump hooked right into my hei dist. It was all a real easy swap, never even flushed my fuel tanks, good luck

Easy Swap. Fuel tanks are the same, no need to flush except for possible rust issues. BTW, I have both a one ton gas and diesel, 6.2 has a lot more umph than the gas 350. What's wrong the 6.2?
