Bed Side Pockets

On my 65 both of the center side pockets or stakes or whatever you call them have pulled away from the bed basically rotting out. Is there a stability issue in the bed If I cut them out or are they just for tie downs?

Otherwise I'll just cut out the middle ones and patch the bed sides since they where plugged and rotted out the side of the bed.

If they are important I'd gladly put them back in if somebody can direct me to some place that might make them. I don't have a break to reproduce them.

I've seen custom beds on some coe's that they did not use them, just straight sides. I personally feel you could get away without them. We sell just the stake pockets. They aren't cheap though. Your still looking at around $100.00 per side for made in USA ones to do the whole side

I don't think you need them, I cut mine out, and the bed rails are a thicker guage metal , and are pretty strong.

I'm guessing you cut out the center ones and left the ones near the cab and bed or did you take them all out?

Ok so it is possible, but might be a bit more than I need in the end. However I'm just beginning so who really knows. ;)
