check lmc's website they might have dimensions on there if not check mar-k's site .....I believe they sell an angle strip to weld to headboard to change from steel to wood ,but not sure who sells it ,could be heavy chevy or truck shop

I can measure it all for you. I think they are 72" long... do you need everything measured?

as stated, there is a conversion piece for a steel headboard/panel.

Mar-K prices from their website...
rear cross sill $125
cross sills $30ea x 3
reinforcement strip $30
front bed panel adapter $20
bed wood $265 (pine)
bed strips $81 (steel)
bed bolts $50 (steel)

$691 for the basics...

Re: wood bed floor cross sills

so I looked in my lmc cat. cross sills are 72"x2" and the bed reinforcement strip is 49 1/2" x 1" so I only need 3 cross sills for a short bed?

Thanks guys

Dave

3 cross sills and 1 rear main sill, but as you can tell my SWB had a long reinforcement strip (72") in front of the wheel well. You could also put a short one in between the wheel wells

I made cross sill for my boat trailer out of unistrut from Home Depot. I converted it to a flatbed, it's about the same stuff as that sign post. Cost $15 for 10 ft so buying the real deal isn't much more, that rear cross needs to be original though...

The cross sills from Mar-K are $25 each with FREE Shipping plus $8.95 processing fee (whatever). It's the rear support that cost allot, about $100 bucks.

Re: wood bed floor cross sills

Those original fleetside sills are about 2 3/16" tall plus the bracket that is welded to the bottom. You can make them our of about any material you want including the stop sign post as long as the installed height above the frame is the same as the brackets on the rear sill. If your material is less than 2 3/16, you have to build up a spacer under it where it sits on the frame so your bed will sit level.

The nice thing about using a quality reproduction part is all the holes are in already and in the right places, and there is no rust or damage to repair. Some reproductions do not have the holes, so be sure to check that if it is important to you. There are about 75 or more holes to be drilled and they really need to be in the right places.

The road signs are a great idea! And you will have all that great flat sheetmetal left over for body patching! :-)
