Original Spare ?

Is this an original spare? It came from a 69. Thanks in advance.

Re: Original Spare ?
if it isn't, it sure is darn close.to that era. I do not think I would trust it myself though ;)
Neat conversation piece for sure. |
Re: Original Spare ?
Looks similar to the the old spare I had on mine. Used it about 8 years ago and it disintregrated on the road.
Since it's a non radial, it's pretty much what trucks used in that era. The first set of radials I bought was after 1970. |
Re: Original Spare ?
I would say YES.It is a period correct tire.It still has the original silver paint on wheel used only in 68 and 69.

Re: Original Spare ?
I'm not gonna use it. I thought I might try to clean it and get a few bucks for it and the other 4 wheels.

Re: Original Spare ?
Yup. period correct tire and wheel. But the weights dont look period correct. Hmm.

Re: Original Spare ?
Weights look right to me.This very well could be 100% original.

Re: Original Spare ?
General (Jet Air II), Firestone (Deluxe Champion and New "500"), Uniroyal (Laredo), Goodrich (Silvertown 660 and HT Silvertown) and Goodyear (Power Cushion) were all sold as new tires on GM pickup trucks. The tire you showed in the pix is correct.
If nothing else, someone might be wanting it to clean up and install on their truck, just for "tickles and grins". I still have one of my original wheels, and it has a tire on it, but it ain't correct. |

Re: Original Spare ?
it might be that the retainer clips for the weights are a little rusty. they would have been the same color as the weight itself, but now they kinda stand out. after i realized that , they looked like they should to me.
just my 2 centavos. |
