bad plugs
i checked my plugs and they seem pretty old and fouled out. i only checked plugs 1 and 3, but they were both the same looking.
the looked like a combination of the top two on the right, oil and carbon fouled. looks likes i'm gonna be buying new ones next week http://members.cox.net/ocbaud/forump...rk%20plugs.jpg |
Eric, if you say your plugs look like a mix between those two. Then its easy to tell that your carb needs to be ajusted. Or you need to set your timing.
And i'm sure your truck smokes at start up, so that would mean worn valve seals. So thats why it looks like the second one. But no problems there. Eric, didn't you say you had the timing advanced a couple degrees? |

Hell all those plugs look like mine when the last time I pulled them:p , what kind of plugs you putting in, don't use Champions they're crap.

Get a set of NGK's and you'll never go back to anything else. By far, it's the best plug I've ever used. And that's saying a lot, because I am old you know. :D

I have been buying the Ac Delco's and them seem fine. Maybe next time I will try some NGK's.................. maybe :)
|
i was gonna get some delcos, but how much are the ngk's?
oh, and what should the gap be set at? i checked my number 1 and 3 cylinders and they are both at about 45 |
A gap of 0.045" is about right if you're running an HEI ignition. That might be a little wide if you still have points.
The 350 in my C-20 likes AC Delco, but the big block in my Nova likes NGK. I just run regular plugs: no platinum, no multiple tips, no bull. I run MSD ignition boxes in everything and never found a need for anything more than regular spark plugs. DJS |
plugs
Ive ran both NGK and AC Delco and frankly i didnt see much diffrence between the two. I would never buy champions though they seem to foul out awful quick:flag: :bowtie:

i just put them in, and hopefully the thing will run better tommorow. oh yeah, the number 8 cylinder was a whore to get the new plug in with the headers:mad: |
