my new Blazer

Ok, like some others, I have been looking for a 2wd Blazer. I bought one yesterday, and have a couple of questions. What is the difference in 71 and 72 doors? This Blazer is titled as a 72, but has 69-70 mirries on the doors. THe PO shaved the door handles, and it just aint me. The other question, are the rear ends the same lenght in our trucks and Blazers. Will send some pics in a bit.

Rearends are the same, year by year, but the wheelbase differs
of course. (About 9" shorter) 72 doors had an extra screw hole
at the wing window for a stiffer supporting structure. Congrats

Re: my new Blazer

I have been wanting one of these for a couple of years. I sold my 1967 Chevelle about a year ago. zz502 700r4 rumpy thumpy AWESOME car. Guess I am getting old. I am on my second set ( quieter ) mufflers on my 69swb, and really like my truck. I have enjoyed making it more user friendly. p/s,pbs,700r4,stereo. But when I bought it I wanted a 2wd Blazer. My wife, who has never liked any of my old cars likes my truck, and my Blazer. go figure.
I am looking forward to making my new purchase what I want it to be. I am going to pick it up next Saturday. It's a couple of hours south of here.

there is a place in Daytona Beach, called The Toy Box. They build high end custom Jeep CJ's and Wranglers. I have know Pete ther for a year or two, as one of my customers has one of his Jeeps. IT is super nice. He piddles with old cars as a hobby. This Blazer was not miss represented at all. It is a 4wd - 2wd conversion, based on the VIN. Pete had it on a lift yesterday when I got there, and I looked up her dress so to speak. No patch panels, nice straight body, single wall top,a/c,p/s,pdb,hacked dash for the stereo, ugly wheels and tires, no noise in the drive train, good oil pressure and no knock when started cold, Just needs some of my lovin for a bit, and then it will get some seroius lovin like my Chevelle did.

Dude nice Blazer. The shaved door handles aren't that bad. Congrats and welcome, Mario

Re: my new Blazer

Looks beautiful! Nice and straight...and a BIG BLOCK! Did they change it to rear coils or leave the leaf springs?

Oh yeah, LUV is right about the door differences. The only other thing to note is the inner door components are different from 71 to 72, but they can be unbolted and swapped. The door latch and window riser have longer shafts in the 72 so that they can stick through the different door panels. Like I said though, they can be swapped from one to the other.

Nice Blazer for a starter and after seeing the pic of your Chevelle BBC motor I have no doubt this will be a wicked Blazer when your touched are finished.

If the body is as striate as you say then I would recommend pulling the door panels off and look inside to see how they shaved the handles. You might get lucky and if they just tacked plates in and then filled them in. If that is the case it might not be that bad to un-do their shave job and save the trouble of finding new doors. Also on the rear end thing the 67-68 rear end were not as wide as the 69-72's so you can fit a tire with a deeper back spacing for a wider visible lip.

to bouncy truck. I have no idea. too stupid to take a good picture of it.

To 65-72 yes I go to a few cruise in locally. I am a fair weather kind of guy. If it's hot = not. if it's cold = probably. The Merrill rd. cruise is close for me. I usually tell my wife I am going to the cruise in, and come home in time to go out to dinner. I assume you are in P.V. ?

If this darn economy was not so weird, I would be excited about my Blazer. Instead I am happy I had this oppertunity, and need to move the truck, and my 2005 Triumph Bonneville America to make the one with the money let me have some of the money I made. ya'll know how it works

NOW, I want all of you that I enjoy my time here, and want to thank all for the responses. I got fussed at for using the word Political. and a rant that I posted. At first I was thinking huh? but after it got removed, and I thought about it for a bit, I thought, ya know it's ok. lets just keep it Chevy truck stuff. It is amazing to me how much knowledge is here, and how willing we all are to share. It will make or toys survive the sands of time. Just the other day I was going somewhere in my 69, and I thought, humpf, This old fat man is driving a 40 yr old truck, with no A/C, listening to Little Feat, and having a pretty darn good time. going nowhere slowly, and enjoying it.

Not quite in Ponte Vedra, I am more west of I95 in St. Johns. The exit before the World Golf Village. I have been to the crusie in over in Julington Creek Fruit Cove a couple of times.

I know what you mean about the economy. If I had the money I would take that nice truck off your hands. ;) I just sold mine and my motorcycle this past summer to keep the Blazer.

here are a couple of pics of my Blazer in my driveway. I did not take a pic of it with the top off today. Shame on me. My wife and I removed the top yesterday afternoon late and went to dinner topless. The Blazer not us, that would have been gross. There was a moment of high angziety, when I pushed the button on the lift in my garage at our house. Big boss was there, and I imediatly looked at the top of the windshield frame -----------------
IT WAS PEFERCT!!!!! HOO RAY
