SWB 4x4 Frame - Checking Interest

Pulled a swb 4x4 bare frame out of the parts yard yesterday, is this a saleable item or should we scrap it?

Tough to sell anything big up here.

Heh, I think I have enough parts left over to do either one.

I have this Vortec 454 and 4WD 700R4 kicking around...

Cabs and beds as well.

Not a 67-72 lwb frame but there is a later model frame sitting here as well.

So what's a 4x4 swb frame worth?

I could add pics and roll this over to a for sale thread...:hmm:

I would take another in a heartbeat, mine I kinda scaly in the rear. Too bad you are so far away, that would be perfect for us. Trevor

ill give this a shot.
id say $500-$750 with all pearches (body & spring perches)
in solid no rot condition
and with all cross members

and if it was a rolling chassi maybe add a few hundred more.

anybody think im off?
am i in the ball park?

comon guys i ve seen the 4wd section of this sight. i know kurt has helped alot of people here.
what do you guys think its worth.

BTW kurt at 4:30 pm i had a local guy (freind of mine) call me to keep an eye out for one of these for him.

without a correct title? that one is hard to figure, what would you put into body and possible return, if you had to sell it. Wow! CPNE still around....

Thanks jc for your input.

PASSMORE, title typically goes with the cab...yes?

Re: SWB 4x4 Frame - Checking Interest

Here you wouldn't need the title but only a bill of sale or reciept. I would say with cross members, hangers and in decent shape around 3-400 bucks.

I got mine for $400 from a "retired" truck builder (not Uncle) here in GA. The frame was almost perfect except for a couple of stress cracks coming off the rear spring hanger rivets and that was an easy fix.

I agree with the $300-$400 figure.

I bought one about 18 months ago. I paid $700.00 but it was all cleaned up and freshly painted. It also came with a vin plate. i though the price was fair.

I just saw a LWB 4 X 4 GMC in the salvage yard, so maybe some interest in it?

Re: SWB 4x4 Frame - Checking Interest

On 4x4 frames, the VIN number is usually stamped in the frame (front left rail) that corresponds with the data plate (cab) and glove box sticker. I seen a nice reconditioned “72” SWB 4x4 go for “cheap’” because it had a 2wd title (C model instead of a K model VIN number). That’s in Florida, not sure about salvage titles, there not to common down here, as everything from the 80’s and before is a pile of rust. But, if you are going to make a driver out of it, about $500.00 for a rolling frame with rebuild able axles.
