blue smoke

have recently seen blue smoke coming from exhaust pipes when starting off from a stop. Could this be lifter or rocker arm problem? 350v has only 25k. also have installed a new air cleaner with the top and sides open for more air. k&n joeyt:gmc2:

Re: blue smoke

Have you checked the oil level? When was the engine rebuilt? Was it broken in properly?

Re: blue smoke

At idle you have high vacuum and because of that, you're drawing oil pass the valve guides. Pop your valve covers and make sure you don't have broken pieces of harden rubber stem seals plugging up the drain holes on the heads.

Re: blue smoke

Black smoke is too much fuel, blue smoke is oil in the cylinder and white smoke is either condensation, or coolant leaking. Oil's either getting in around the valve seals or the piston rings. I'd bet on the valve seals, but a compression check will tell you if it's the piston rings or not.
