wider rear fenders

I want to run wider tires on my 50 model , I was originally going to do a mini tub but saw these 3 inch wider fiberglass fenders. has anyone done this? I was just trying to get an idea of the rear view, do you think it looks ok?
these are the only pics I can find. I will not be using 22 inch rear rims like in the picture, maybe 18's or 20's

I like them too. What about the running boards? Would you need aftermarket boards that kick out in the rear to match the lines/width of the fenders?

you can get wider ones or modify your stock ones.

I like them. I made my own steel before they offered fiberglass. I also made smooth runningboards to match. If you go fiberglass, add a little reinforcment so the don't get star cracks if a rock hits them.

thanks, I plan to use fiberglass running boards. I am better with glass than I am with steel. so it will be easier for me to mod the rear of the board to match the fender. I also want to modify the front to follow the contour of the front fender. I have seen theese before but have not found a supplier.

That looks good but personally I would keep the fenders stock and run mini tubs. I'm just not into the looks fat from behind look.

I got my fenders in from an e bay vendor and they are nice quality. I have the drivers side installed and primed. I decided to modify my stock boards instead of buying a $400 boards and cutting on them. the boards had to be shortened about an inch and need to be modified for the new contour. in the pic the board is cut and not modified yet. I have 13 inches of clearance between the bedside an the inner lip of the fender. I will run 12 inch wide tires. thinking about Boyd Smoothie 2 rims.

the difference between the two fenders stock versus wider

rear view it is hard to tell with the stock black fender but I was able to raise the fender about an inch in the rear. to me it looks better since I am not using a rear bumper.

Hi, please keep us posted with your progress with the fenders and modifing your running boards. I have been looking at the same fenders on Ebay and wondered about the quality.

will do, the fenders are very well made and fit good and he has the best price. it took 4 weeks to get them but he states that in his auction. I fit the passenger side last night so i need to take more pics once it is primed.

Unfortunate that all these classic old threads have been rendered useless by the photo hosting sites. These crooks have ruined great archives by holding your pictures hostage.

The loss of the pics is significant to all of the net forums. Kinda like destroying a library.

Absolutely! I used my Comcast account for picture hosting until they eliminated that feature, luckily I had ample warning that they were planning to wipe personal photos from the server so I was able to save everything. Then I loaded all of my pics to PB which worked okay despite all of the annoying ads and popups. Now they've gone and messed that all up. Great job PB!

All the automotive forums I frequent are filled with this...

They have wiped out a 10+ year archive of valuable information.

Here's an article where they widen some fenders. It also has some basic welding information.
