Externally Regulater to Internally Regulater Conversion
 

Hey guys, I am finishing up my LSx 5.3 conversion in my '69 C10. Well I dropped in the battery and hooked up the terminals only to find out I don't have most of my electrical working. After chasing a few wires with a test light I realized I am not going through my external regulator anymore. My alternator has a single power post on the back, so basically its a one-wire alternator.

I did a quick search and found out that several vendors sell conversion harnesses for $20+ shipping. Myself being a cheap guy (especially since I am over budget as it is on this swap) I figure I can make my own jumpers to create the same thing.

So does anyone know what I need to do to convert this thing over?

BTW, I used this to convert to an internally regulated alternator.
It's easier than all get out. And other than the cost of the alternator, it costs about, maybe $6.00, if that. About $5.00 was for a "replacement plug" for the new style alternator. (available @ any decent, or mediocre auto supply).

This one is for the internal regulated 12SI that most people have. If you have a one-wire then just hook a 10 gage wire to the terminal on the back and run it to the battery positive post.

My alternator is the latest design. In its intended application (and the way its currently setup in my truck) it has a single post that runs a 8 gauge wire to the + side of the battery. Then it has another connector plug that runs directly into the factory computer wire harness. I am assuming the computer controls the regulator in this case.

I don't have the two other 'tabs' like most other 10si and 12si alternators it makes things alittle harder.
