Well it's back......

Well it started again. I get my engine to around 5000rpm then it starts backfiring threw the exhaust. Talked to a local engine builder and told him Ive looked at fuel press, timming, plugs, wires you name it. He suggested ignition module so I pulled it out of the dist & took it to oriellys auto parts. Sure enough it was bad. Got a new one. Went home & put it all back together, she fired right up. It ran smoother, so I went down this little black top no one hardly goes down:D . I came to a full stop and nailed it ,all hell broke loose all the popping "gone " shifted out of 1st @ 5500RPM then in 2nd around 5000RPM it went right back to doing it:whine: . Called the guy back and he said either pickup coil or valve float. How is it that I can have valve float, when I bought the K-Kit arent the springs supposed to be matched to the cam. Acording to him it aint nothing to see a new set of springs loose 10lbs of seat pressure after breaking in a engine. Is this true.........or a line of crap  Far as the pickup coil I dont really know enough about them to argue. Im really loosing my cool here.

pickup coil

on any of the trucks which ive owned, when the pickup coil went the truck would backfire and pop and all under any load all you would have to do is to put it in drive and try to give it any gas
for whatever thats worth:flag: :bowtie:

If your running HEI, I believe they run out of spark right around 45-5000rpm or so. Try the MSD HEI intensifier kit. With this kit a Blaster 2 coil & 6AL amplifier is used instead of factory stuff. I would think this would be easier than going back into the motor & if it doesn't solve your problem it's still not a waste of time because you'll rule out the ignition(as the prob) + upgrade it @ the same time.
