gear ?
Sorry, wrong section, Newb, I'm looking at getting my grandfathers 68 1/2 ton with a 307 2wd auto, from an older brother who has let it sit for 10 yrs. Was going over some ?s with him on the condition, and he mentioned that when he had last driven it, it sounded to him that it was running pretty hard at @ 60mph. He believes that it has some very low gears, but has no idea what they may be.
My grandfather bought it used with low miles for his farm. Anyone have some idea's on the gearing? |
Re: gear ?
I will move this over to the pickup forum for you.

Re: gear ?
TCASON, I have a thread I started a few days ago titled 12bolt gear ratio. I recieved some great information on it you may want to check out.
I am installing a rear end that has 307s in my truck that has a 350/ THM350. From what I understand these were the stock gears for my 1969. |
Re: gear ?
I looked and looked for the same question, but couldn't locate it. I thought I had lost it there for a second!

Re: gear ?
Thank you for the information!
I had started a new thread in this section once I realized my newbie mistake, sorry. I have already received a lot of information from some of the forum members, Thank you! I will be trying to get the truck over to my shop in the next couple of weeks, then start the work on getting it roadworthy for starters, then slowly start on the restomods, as funds permit ;) |
Re: gear ?
You can find out for sure by pulling off the rear end cover and locating the #'s stamped on the ring gear. If you divide them by each other then you'll get the ratio.
