Chevy and GMC cabs...are they the same?
If this is a stupid or already asked questions, I apologize. I have a '71 Chevy with a rough cab. I have a line on a '69 GMC with a better cab. (I live in Michigan, so the chances of finding a nice cab are slim!) Can they be swapped? I know that there are some differences with GMC v Chevy fenders and hoods, but are the cabs the same? Thanks.

Re: Chevy and GMC cabs...are they the same?
Well obviously if one has AC and the other just a heater there is a difference.
And 69 has a accelerator rod for the gas pedal. 71 has a cable. Nothing major. No reason not to get the cab if its a deal. |

the grille horn cap emblems are diffent

Re: Chevy and GMC cabs...are they the same?
71 has a raised part where the mirror attaches to. '69 will be flat.

The only thing I have ever seen on a GMC that was not on a chevy, is the hole for the clutch pedal rod on some GMC trucks is through the floor instead of through the firewall. |
Re: Chevy and GMC cabs...are they the same?
there's not enough difference to be a problem. I am using a 72 cab on my 68. but I am not building it to be an "original" anyways. So little stuff doesn't bother me. If its a deal, get it. but really look it over really good because sometimes these trucks can fool ya.

This is a 1971 GMC cab with a 68 chevy front cap. All works just fine.
