Help picking a bumpstick

I have a 61 short step with a 396 bored to 402. 8.5 to 9.0 compr, performer rpm intake, and large oval heads. I'm also running a turbo 400 trans torque converter is just over stock with 4.11 gears for now. Any suggestions on a good camshaft for this combo?

What diameter and length headers?
What size carb? Vacum secondaries?
What are you willing to spin the motor too?
How about valve springs and lifters?
Is this a strip only deal or street strip?

With a slightly bigger than stock stall, I assume bottom end TQ is important to you?

Headers are Flowtech 31132 full length headers. Carb is an Edlebrock 750. Valvesprings are stock, but can always be changed, and I planned on usind Rhodes lifters. Yes bottom end torque is important to me. I had planned on building a light strip heavy street truck, now I just want to shut a few friends up.

With out making a motor profile, I would guess something around a:

230/230 @ .050 with .550ish lift on a 106 ICL with a 110 LSA.

With the tight converter you are not gonna want to much duration or its gonna kill your low/mid range torque. If you plan on a hyd flat tappet I would run this one. Will work great with your low comp ratio and tight converter.

Comp XE268......268/280 adv.....224/230 at .050....515/520 lift....110 lsa.

Thanks for the suggestion. Comp Cams recomended xe274, so I was trying to decide between that one and the Voodoo vdbc268. Both are close to your suggestion, and almost exactly what Super 73 suggested.
