Opinions on LMC sheet metal or other suggestions?
I'm going to be ordering a new short fleet bed for the short step truck that I recently bought. Plus a fender and a pair of inner fenders.
Anyway have any of you used the complete bed from LMC? How was the fit? Would you buy from them again? If not who do you recomend that I should deal with? The truck is going to be built in kansas, so I could drive up to LMC to save on the shipping cost, but I don't want to buy poor fitting crap either. Thanks for the help, Doug |
Re: Opinions on LMC sheet metal or other suggestions?
I think most of the venders sell the same sheetmetal parts made by TriPlus. I'm not sure that is what LMC sells or not.
I've used some of the triPlus parts and they seem to fit OK. If you can find it, original parts would be better. I was able to find a hood and grill at a salvage yard, and have sold several other parts. So original good condition used parts are out there. |
Re: Opinions on LMC sheet metal or other suggestions?
:agree: w/ ackattack. For the most part there's only a few manufacturer's of repop sheetmetal.
Check out the following vendors as well: Classic Parts of American (used to be Chevy Duty) right off of I435N (just north of KC) Mar-K (in Oklahoma) they don't sell the bedsides due to issues with their supplier but they offer some great one-off parts |

I got my stuff from TriPro & LOVE the quality
BTW, I should be moving to Tulsa within a year, so we'll have to hang out ;) |

I saw these sides mounted on Tri-Pro Automotove`s project truck in "bolt-on" form, untouched, and they looked sweet. And,the tailgate mated up well, too.

I hate the fact that LMC and Classic Chevy Parts (aka Chevy Duty) are within 15 minutes from my house. I have a second and third home now.

Re: Opinions on LMC sheet metal or other suggestions?
LMC and Classic parts BOTH 15 MINUTES AWAY!!! Ohhhh you poor thing. Of course you have to pay sales tax where all of us out of staters dont have to pay tax or shipping as long as its over $300 and not oversized. Still I would pay the extra 7% if I could go there in person and get my parts that day.

Re: Opinions on LMC sheet metal or other suggestions?
I bought a lower/rear long/fleet patch from LMC (for my Burb) and it didn't have the "crease" along the wheel arch. The customer service was horrible and they refused to take it back. They told me "no one else had complained about the part."
Also, there have been some poor quality repop parts being sold on ebay. Not that they are all bad. You get what you pay for. |
Re: Opinions on LMC sheet metal or other suggestions?
I dont want to stir the pot or put anyone down, but all the repo patch panels and fenders I have bought are well lets just say not like original pieces. Unless it is something simple like a hat channel or rocker panel I try to only use original fenders or cab sections for replacement.
