What Fits

I have a 70 swb chevy going with a 5-7 drop (springs and spindles) Want to run 15x10 corvette rallys on the rear with a 295/50/15 tire. Will a 5" b.s. allow me to tuck the tire? Any pics, ideas, thoughts, will be put to good use!:chevy:

Re: What Fits

Since you have a 70 truck i am assuming you have a 70 rear end which is about 58" wide. A 5" backspacing should give you about a 1/2" clearance from the inside of the rear fender. That would be without a tire, just a rim. Now since you want to run a 295/50 tire that is about 11 5/8" +or- wide. So if you trully want to run that tire you are going to need about 6-6.25" of backspacing. That should give you about 5/8-7/8" clearance between the fender and the tire. I am pretty sure about my measurments based off my experience with my truck and 4.5" backspacing on a 10" rim and my tire size which is a 275/30.

Your tire specs

sidewall height: 5.81"
Tire width: 11.61"
Tire diameter: 26.61

If you change your width of the tire you can get more backspacing on the rim.

I hope i was able to help

lo72,... this is a picture of my 15x10's with 5 inch backspace.
The tires are 275/60-15's.
If I had to do it again,... I'd run a 5.5 or 6 inch backspace to tuck enough for bags.
I have the wider 71-72 rearend.
This is also a 6" rear drop.
I'm putting my 8" ralleys back on.

Thanks for the response guys. Lowdownstar that is exacly the look i'm going far. So what is the specs on your truck? drop? tire size?

Lolife99 thanks for the measurements and pics. at present i have the stock rearend, but will soon swap out for a 90 model out of a suburban that has just been rebuilt. putting the front crossmember in as well to get 5 lugs all around and discs up front.
Any ideas on where i can get a ralley wheel with a 5.5 or 6 in back space?
