01 with a Low fuel light on with it full
I have an 01 that the lflight comes on at any given time. It is frustrating. Is this a common problem? Any help would be great.

Re: 01 with a Low fuel light on with it full
It's a common problem starting with the '99 trucks. I think GM corrected this problem a few years back. Anyways to correct the problem, you need to replace the sender in the gas tank. If you haven't replaced your fuel pump yet, (I assume you haven't because the problem would have more likely been fixed when the pump was replaced with the sender), buy a complete setup to include the sender & that should fix it.

Before you drop the tank, try running some complete fuel system cleaner with Techron. Often the gauge problems occur with sulfur type deposits building up on the gauge rheostat. This stopped the problem on my 2002 Tahoe.

I think the other problem was the wiring for the fuel pump/sender. The original harness that goes into the tank needs to be cut & replaced. I think that's what the problem was IIRC.

I stand corrected. When I needed to replace the pump on my '99, a new harness (4-pin) was replaced along with the pump. The plug was cut & the new harness was put in its place. I'm not sure why Chevy recommends this, but any place that sells the pump, usually has the new plug/harness, as well.
