Steel cowl hoods, do they fit worth a darn ?
I'm thinking of picking up a steel cowl hood for my truck at the next swap meet. Can I expect it to fit pretty decently without too much anguish ?

Well if the 69-72 version fits as well as the 67-68 you shouldnt have a problem. I put one on the 67 i built for a guy, link in my sig. I just took it out of the box, drilled the holes for the chevrolet lettering, scuffed and shot it. I finally put it on the truck without a hitch. Everyting bolted up real nice. Hinges took some adjusting to get everything just right, nothing more than would have to be done mounting any stock original hood. Plus it was the first time the hinges were fitted to the fenders and hood on this peticular truck. So you should be good.

My only pet peeve with them is they always seem to sit a little higher than the fenders, like it has a bow.

We put a goodmark cowl hood on the 68. It is a good fit, no probs to speak of. Good luck. Now doors on the other hand...

Trouble with ANY aftermarket parts is that sometimes they fit great, sometimes they don't. I am sure if anyone reading this remembers aftermarket parts from 10-15 years ago, most were junk.
That being said, they are getting better and I have been impressed lately with the quality and fit of the newer repop stuff. Just expect that you may have to do a little fitting and you should be fine! Don |

Mine fit pretty good. This was the second one though. The first one I bought fit good, but had about a 3/4-1" gap between the fender and hood just inside the sloped section. Tim made it good though and gave me a second one that fit nice.
