Time to say Hi

I just joined up and figured it was time to say Hi officially. Normally I hang out at the Stovebolt Page or Jolly's 60-66-GMC group, Just found this site.

My project is a 1960 GMC :gmc2: with a 305 V-6 Hydramatic, 8 ft' Fleetside. I'm restoring it back to OEM. And hope to have this one finished this year after a major setback. I have a large webshots album set up for your viewing pleasure and it can be found here. Anybody that has a question, please drop me a line.

When I'm not working on the truck, I own and operate a custom scale model building buisness. You will see those pictures as well at the Webshots link. We build just about anything a person could want including models of the many cars and trucks folks have (if the kit is availble) However, I specialize in restoring antique ship models as you can see.

Looking forward tot he exchanges, and hope to help any folks along the way.

Thanks
Jake

Hi David,

Thanks for the good words, The Plaid Valve covers were gotten off eBay for only $99 and change from another member who was giving up his project. I have 3 sets of covers, one with the plaid, one I'll have chromed and one set painted to mact the block color "GMC Red". Gee, I wish I knew how to do body work like you I'd be finished by now.

I have every availble option that the truck could be orderd with in 1960 except emergency flasher (hope to win a bid soon) and plan on putting it all there.

Here is what I have for the truck:
4 Sp. Hydramatic
Power Steering (don't know if I will install it)
Tachometer
Electric Clock
Oil Filter (Yes it was an option)
Deluxe Airflow heater with Defrost
2 speed windshield wipers (OEM rare)
Turn Signal
Windshield Washer bag and floor pump
AM Radio and Antenna
Rear Bumper (Yes, it was an option)
License Plate Support w/Light
Front Bumper Guards
Passenger Side Sun Visor
Passenger Side adjustable Mirror
Driver and Passenger Side Arm Rest
Non-Glare Day/Night Select Rearview Mirror
Dinsmore Compass (OEM ULTRA Rare)
Glove Box Light (not many men would order this)
Cigarette lighter
Under Hood Light
Locking Fuel Cap (yep they offered it then)
Traffic View Finder (don't know if I will install it, Hate to drill into dash)
Hood Ornament (1960-61 model yr. only)
Plaid Valve Covers
(Factory installed in certain models)

Right now I need to finish up a ship model that's setting me back before christmas. And I can't play with the truck until I finish it :(

Beieve it or not they were on his engine and are all full of grease underside I'm going to clean them but want to be REAL careful on what type of cleaner I'll use. Ageneral
de-greaser should do it.

Jake,
Looks like you have found most of the parts you will need. congrats on that.
But if you get stuck finding other stuff, try asking Tony on this site he has a nice shop with parts for most of these trucks. His forum name is LILRED66 he has helped me and others out, Tony is extremly Knowledgeable on parts for these trucks.
