3/8 fuel line
I still have my tank behind the seat and the fuel line is only 3/8. I have 3/8 line to the inlet side of my fuel pump, then i changed it on the exit side to a 8 AN up to the regulator. Later when i install my new tank under the bed, i'll run 8AN all the way to the tank. I was told that the 3/8 fuel line is only good for about 465hp. If that's the case how come my fuel pressure still stays at 6.5psi going down the track? He said that i'm not getting enough volume which is costing me some power. Could this be true?

I run 3/8" which is -6 on my blower motor from the gas tank all the way to the carb on my 500 HP blower motor. That will flow enough fuek for your engine. You should only go from bigger to smaller line not the other way around for good fuel flow.

My engine is supposed to be making over 600 hp, and i'm trying to find out why it's not running like it should. I know my converter has some to do with it.

I ran an-6 (which is barely larger than 3/8" ) from the cell to the regulator, then split to two an-6 lines, one for each float bowl. That motor made just over 650 HP and it never stuttered a bit. Now I'm running an-8 from the cell, two an-8 lines to the carb,,, that motor is making just an eyelash less than 800. I see a big drop in psi at launch, but that happens with any car pulling 1.2 sixty's. The data logger says it drops to 1-2psi for about 3/4 second, then climbs back to 6+ for the whole pass.
Fuel line size is one place racers always want to go overkill. If you don't have the pump to back it up,, you are actually hurting delivery. |

If you're not getting enough volume but you're psi still shows 6.5, would you're engine run lean and pop? Mine does not do that, but it should mph more. I'm thinking that i might need a new converter more than anything. I did buy it used.
