****UPDATE****THE DAMN YANKEE IS NOW 12/28/2008 UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!!! BEEN WORKIN HARD ON THE CAB AND IT'S COMMING TOGETHER. LOTS OF PICTURES. CHECK IT OUT.
So far I've been building sub assemblies and gathering fenders ,doors ,rollpans ,taligate ,headboard, engine, and driveline parts. The Damn Yankee has 1 more dump run left. as of 1 jan 09 my newly aquired 89 swb 1500 will be 20 yrs old and i'll reg her as historic and she'll take over the chores ie dump runs pulling the boat, parts runner etc etc.i'm excited as a two peckerd pup! i've had many classic trucks , cars, hotrods, harleys and assorted toys but, the DAMN YANKEE keeps ne awake at night. why?? no idea but i got that itch i gotta scratch! This build may not be Barrett Jackson worthy but, i'll give it my absolute best shot!! There have been a few parts i've bought off members of this site also. i've never a bad experence either. thanks to all you guys for the good deals and honest buisness practices. As for advice theres some very smart talented people on this forum thanks to all. i'll be glad to pay it forward. thanks for looking, posting, questions, &comments.

Once you create an account there, you just click the upload button & upload the pics you want from your computer
Then once you have uploaded them, you click the IMG code & it automatically copys it, then you go to your post & paste it

here is my homemade ladderbar fixture. it should put the front pivot location about the same as stock location. waiting on my chromemoly 3/4" rod ends many more pics will follow. thank to spray-bomb i am able to share photos with yall

http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/oo84/phipp13/523.jpg here is the rear end i'm using a ford 9 inch posi out of a 69 mustang. it's 5" narrower than the stock 12 bolt in the truck now therefore i should be able to use a standard backspaced 12 to 14 inch wide rim. i backbraced it with .125 2"x3" box tubing.

Here are the rear end brackets i made fwd and aft ladderbar brackets and lower adjustable coilover shock brackets. all brackets were made oit if 4130 chrome moly steel .190 on the shock brackets and .125 on the front and rear ladderbar brackets. the ladderbar brackets will have a strap welded to the backs after final installation. making them pairs. this will add latteral strength to keep the thin .125. from flexing side to side.

it's gonna be a prostreet. got a 383 stroker w/eagle arp balanced bottom Dart iron eagle heads,B&M 144 blower,turbo 400,and a 9 inch rear. ladderbar and coilover shocks. fuel cell in rear of the bed as well as battery, roll pans on front and rear plus tons of other stuff
the puke blue motor will be re painted and i got all the parts to pretty her up rebuild the blower and she'll be good to go. i bought that motor for 950.00 from a member 70GMCer with 200 miles on it. he had a couple grand in it and couldnt keep it from running rich.IMHO it was over carbed and under cammed. he gave me 1 hell of a deal recipts n all. the blower aws a seperate deal.

ahhh, the reason i asked is cause how you did your rear end.....ive seen lots of crawlers brace it like that, but not too many other 'steet' applications.

the backbrace on the rear is because when you run the fat tires and if it hooksup it'll want to bend the tubes fwd. the reason for the long ladderbars is that the trailing arm trucks 60ft like a bat outta hell and i did'nt want to change/shorten the lenghth of the front mount. i took a swag (scientific wild ass guess) why the arms were so long. i believe it's that way because any weight aft of the front pivot point is weight on the rear wheels. being shorter will be less weight and these pickups need all the rear weight they can get to hookup. anyone with more knowledge on this subject PLEASE pass it on as i need all the help i can get v/r Phipp

What or how are you going to adjust pinion angle with that ladder bar set up? Can't tell if the rod ends are screw in or not.

the rod ends in the pic are NOT the ones i'm using, they're for mockup only. i have 3/4" chromemoly screw in rod ends. the Ladderbars are single adjustable though.As far as my front brackets i have 5 hole adjustment and i'll locate it in the center hole. i'll loose the stock cross brace/mount for a 2x3x.125 drop cross member with a driveshaft loop when it gets installed hopfully fwd of the stock trailimg arm pivot location . Saturday is the final DUMP RUN!!!!! for the DAMN YANKEE.

as for the hood the jury is out. i hav;nt decided wether i like the hood or not. i might poll public opinion. i know one thing for sure it sucks when it rains. the airgap intake looks like a swimming pool :( i guess it would be bettersuited for az weather. i'll let you know if i ditch the hood. thanks for stopping by

OK OK, since you do not want the hood, just send it my way, i am sure i could use it on one of my projects, just trying to be a nice guy and hide all the ugly stuff from everyone else, but really i did the hood, i would keep it.

the damn yankee is being torn apart. tonight the bed came off. pretty easy may i add. those rusty bolts were no match for my smoke wrench
