How low can you go with solid 57 axle?
I was wondering if anyone has gotten a lot of drop out of a solid front axle?
How did you go about it? Is it possible to get an axle with a lower drop than stock and if so,from who? I know that it is possible to get a solid axles for old hot rods in just about any drop height that you want. I want something uncluttered, simple and light,so I want to stay away from a modern a-arm set up. Thanks-Keith |
Re: How low can you go with solid 57 axle?
You can flip the axle (placing it on top of the springs) and you can get up to 3-inch dropped axles. Dropped axles can be flipped as well. You can also get dropped springs.
In other words you can get pretty low with a solid axle and parallel leaf springs. I can't point you at any suppliers because after researching this 7 or 8 years ago I decided to go with Fatman's MII instead. |

Ebay user named stay-tooned he has 3" and 4" dropped original axles. www.droppedaxles.com You can view my thread and see the axle there. Hope this helped
with a 4" drop you get serious. If you have a blowout your scraping axle. I got the 3" drop axle and removed a couple leaf springs. |
