Need Advice in Alberta

Hey everyone, I am new to the site - here's my story... Bought my 67 GMC custom 910 in 97, parked it beside the garage 2 years ago, parked it IN the garage yesterday... I plan a full ground up resto/retro, upgrades to include 4 wheel disc brakes, suspension upgrades (not sure what yet), engine swap (don't have the original 327, previous owner swapped in a 350) to a 409 that my buddy is "holding" for me, new bed wood, complete interior upgrade, etc... lots of decisions to be made yet but I have the burning desire (hasn't let up since I bought the truck) and the mechanical inclination... although at my present income I have at least another 10 years worth of burnin' to do, lol...

I am hoping to find people in Canada to trade and/or buy parts with, but advice from anyone is greatly appreciated!

Welcome! This is the place to be, I've only been here a couple months myself but seen a lot of cool trucks and got a lot of help and ideas.
Lets see some pics of your truck :flag: :canada:

Welcome to the board.... I'm in edmonton and do have a few parts to trade, I have a hood from my 68 and mt guages as well.

Welcome from Northern Manitoba!! There are a lot of western Canada members here that can always help out with parts. For new and used parts in your area, you might wanna try Scott's Super Trucks in Penhold ALTA. They seem to have a pretty good inventory

Welcome, from a member residing in Calgary.

I have some stock gauges left over from my 67 GMC project. Any time you need advise, shoot me an email. After alot of blood, sweat, and tears, my 67 is basically done, and I learned what to do, and what not to do in the process.

Dean23 12-01-2002 10:41 PM

No the rad was old and ****ty lookin,, it wasn't even a 4 core. I store where I work and we have all kind of crap goin on there. some peple try and steal the uhails i work on and are too stupid too even do that.

spare rad

Dean, I have a spare rad, can you pickn it up in Calgary or do you have another way to get it to Edmonton?

I'm leaving to Calgary Monday afternoon, so I need to know soon, thanks, Bernie

There are lots of good Western Canadian members to trade with on this board and it's a great place to get advice.

I have personally dealt with Scotts up in Penhold and he is a pretty good guy. If he has it in stock you will have your parts overnight. When you consider all of the fees,shipping and taxes to bring stuff up from the States his prices are about the same. If he doesn't have the item in stock things can take quite a bit longer.

Welcome to the board :canada:

Another Calgarian here;

There's also IronChief.com near Edmonton. They soung like thy'd be OK to deal with too though I've only chatted over e-mail with them.

There's a Calgary-based 4X4 forum that might give you some leads too;

Thanx

Thanx for the replies everyone, good to know there's lots of other truck nuts out there...

Haven't figured out how to get a pic on the board yet, if anyone can tell me how, I would really appreciate it!

I'm not looking for parts yet, just getting into the teardown now... but there are a few things I won't be putting back in the truck like the gas tank, bench seat (recovered in grey velvet), steering column (one original, no tilt, auto shift, one tilt auto shift from a van), and probably a bunch of other s**t by the time I'm done... if anyone wants them, let's talk buy, trade for something I might use, or maybe just take them...!

Mountain Man, I'm sure I'll be talking to you in the future, greatly appreciate the offer of advice etc... this will be my first truck, pretty sure there's gonna be some surprises, lol
