special???

While polishing all the alu trim I removed for the paintjob I wondered (again) what's the deal with the additional trim on the back wich says:

" GRAFF
Grand Prairie "

Anyone knows something about this??

Maybe it's something from Canada, because I found out that my doorhandles are "made in Canada"

Sorry, it's nothing special. :(

That's a dealer emblem. Your truck is from Graff Chevrolet in Grand Prairie, Texas. That's between Dallas and Fort Worth if your curious.

Scott :)

I wish dealerships still had cool emblems like that. Now its just stickers

Slonaker 12-03-2002 10:29 AM

I prefer the stickers. That way I can tear them off as soon as I get it home. The old chrome ones usually left holes in the body.

I refuse to be a free source of advertising for the dealer (or Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, etc.).

KINDA LIKE MINE THATS ON THE OLD 78. "YOUNG CHEVROLET"
PROVES THAT MY TRUCK HAS BEEN IN DALLAS ITS WHOLE LIFE WHICH I GUESS IS WHY IT DOESNT HAVE ANY RUST AND STILL WEARS ITS ORIGINAL PAINT. :bowtie:

What about this: I have a '79 4 door chevy and the two door handles on the passenger side are kind of rounded on the back side, all of my parts trucks have kind of a indent behind them unlike these two. These two on the passenger side feel really nice on the hand, yet they look the same as all the other ones, are they factory or replacements?

I'm with you Slonaker, I hate it when dealers put their little stickers on new/used cars, whenever I buy a new vehicle the first thing I do when I get it home is rip off all the stickers and license plate frames with their names on it.:p

BigRed 12-03-2002 04:50 PM

I agree with y'all about not having the labels on my vehicles. The day after I brought my motorcycle home (don't have any more) :(, I ripped off the dealer stuff and even took the Yamaha insignia off so it would be a smooth tank. When my truck get's repainted, the badges are definitely coming off! :)

The few times I have bought from a dealer, I told them I would only buy the car if they did not put anything on the car with their name on it. I make them remove anything they already put there...

I use to detail cars for a Dodge dealership. When the cars would get unloaded from the truck they would go through an inspection. They checked everything on the car then added their license plate frame, sticker on trunk, and what ever else they felt they needed to add. Not many customers requested that this stuff be removed. But every once in awhile someone wouldnt want that crap, which I agree with. We would remove all that stuff before delivery to the customer. We didnt always have a heat gun around so most were removed by window cleaner / razor blade. Out of all the stickers I razored off the paint, I only scratched one car. I was able to buff it out and you couldnt even see it.

The lesson of this story is, check were the stickers were for damage, most people didnt take the time I did to remove it without scratching the car.

A week ago I was coming home from Presscott where I bought an SKS :). Anyway I seen two vehicles from a local Dodge dealership with dealer plates screwed onto the trunk. Yes screwed into the trunk. Two screws each plate on two different vehicles. These were not brand new cars, but damn close to it. I couldnt believe that someone would screw a plate to the trunk before putting it were it belongs. DUMBA$$!

For those curious the vehicles were: 300M & Cherokee Limited
