This think scared me today (video)
This is a friends hot rod and I made the maiden voyage on this new combination today. My friend bought this car recently and we had no Idea it was gonna go to the moon on the first pass. The wheelie bars were up several inches higher on the first pass and it went straight up. I wish I had pics or videos of that pass. this car is a handful to drive like it is. It has way to much rear gear for the c4. When you leave you have to shift almost instantly. I'm gonna try to switch it to a glide.
Can't edit title it was late should say thing instead of think! LOL |

skyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy pilot ;)
Nice driving DJ. Heard it banging the rev limiter in first with the wheels up, you wisely rode it down before shifting. Things get UGLY when they crash back to earth. |
Re: This think scared me today (video)
The very first pass was way high and it came down hard. Lucky for me the mustang II crossmember is the lowest thing up front and it didn't hurt a thing.

The owner bought a glide today. It should be perfect with the 1.76 low gear instead of 2.48.

Re: This think scared me today (video)
That glide will mellow the launch . Down here they like to pull those wheelies for the camera on sunday night , but our racing season is done for the year . We'll get things kicked off jan 15th . Gonna be a long winter .

Going from a TH400 to a Glide made my Nova BOOOOREINNNNNNG. It's faster, more consistant, doesn't break parts,, but it's just not as fun as air time. Here's teh last pass I did with the 400 and old tunnelram motor (for obvious reasons) eating a set of Lemons headers and a Canton pan every pass is rather budget consuming, ;)

Man now that's what I call some hang time. Did someone at the track forget to pay the light bill.
I don't think this little car will be too boring with a 5.57 rear gear just drivable and much easier for a new/old driver to get used too. 98% of the tracks around here are 1/8th mile anyway. I think it will be perfect. |

Way to take flight Kevin!

Re: This think scared me today (video)
Kevin you better get used to it or get some REAL STRONG training wheels,, that animal your building is going to want to take flight at the hint of traction I bet!
Like said,, you may not see the track, but you see the scoreboards, the sky, you have visual references and if it starts to move around you 'feel' as much as you see. Fortunately my little shoebox is on rails when the track is good so it's just point and shoot. The TH400 was shiftnoid / Dedenbear CC3 shifted so all I had to do was lift off the transbrake button, roll the throttle to the floor and hang on. Once in a while when it came down it would get a little 'exciting', but usually it was just 3-4 seconds of addrenalin rush, then motor on down to the finish line and hope for a win light. Usually it was nice and smooth, not a hard hit violent launch like DJ was fighting in that Mustang. |
