Exhaust Gasket Headaches!!

Well on the exhaust gaskets I've had my fair share of leaks but this is getting old. When I replaced the bolts with the Stage 8 header bolts that solved the problem at the heads. Now the problem is at the collector. What's the best reusable collector gasket? I don't want to spend an arm and a leg but I need something dependable that's not going to cause it to leak. I won't weld the collector flanges together so that's out of the question. Anybody find a good set?

Hope this helps!

Brandon, can't really talk from experience since the exhaust shop installed my gaskets and they were the standard ones that came with the headers. No leaks as of yet ("knocking on wood"). However, here are some links that my help you. :)

GASKETS

USE THE COPPER REUSABLE TYPE AVAILABLE FROM SUMMIT OR JEGS. YOU CAN ALWAYS USE SOME HIGH TEMP SILICONE WITH THE REGULAR GASKETS TOO. MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING LOCK WASHERS ON THE BOLTS. USUALLY LOOSE BOLTS CAN CAUSE THE GASKET TO BREAK.

I have read a few articles about copper gaskets and im convienced they are the way to go. Try some copper ones and see what happens.

As Mike would put it: "You get what you pay for"

Good thing you got the stage 8 locking bolts. I have also heard great things about them. When I start buying the components for my exhuast. I plan to buy all copper gaskets and those stage 8 locking bolts. Plus I need to get them damn headers coated. I already feel broke and I havent even bought anything yet :(

Good luck

header gaskets

I use alumnium gaskets along with flange stiffners. Both of those together and they will never leak again. I even built a h-pipe added collectors , flanges , flange stiffner and alumium gasket. Makes disasembling simple.
