Hello all and some pics
3 Attachment(s)
Hello. I have an 82 3/4 ton with an 86 front clip. It has a 350 with a 4 speed NP-208 xfer case. Im planning on taking the lift off it. The p.o. put 4 inch lift blocks on the rear and re-arched the front springs and put blocks under the front! So its going to go back to stock and I am going to set it up as my welding truck. I am going to have a lot of questions as I have owned all fords until this. But what where the stock size blocks on the rear end? Im sure I will have alot more questions as I progess. Oh and I have named the truck ol' whitey. Now on to the pics.

Re: Hello all and some pics
Tamper, welcome aboard!! As to your question, there were no blocks installed from the factory. Spring rides directly on the axel perch with a thin plastic plate between the spring and the perch 1\16" at max. Don't worry about replacing it, as most leave it out when changing springs. jim

Re: Hello all and some pics
Thanks guys for the reply. I figured that an older chevy like this with only 2 rust holes the size of silver dollars was decent. Heck the frame still is black. It needs a carb, and as you all could see a drivers side fender. Just finding one in Ohio that has little rust, is going to be a challenge. And thanks I didnt know if chevy put blocks on the rear or not from the factory. I just need to find another set of springs (I got a couple broken ones), and a set of front springs to get the arch out of it. But hopefully I will have good luck with it. Thanks again,
Tamper |
Re: Hello all and some pics
why not just shave the rear block down so it sits level with the front reached springs? You wouldn't want to be accused of having a stock rig, would you? :)

Re: Hello all and some pics
Well I want to have this as a work truck, so sitting lower would be a little better. ANd as to having a stock truck...hey its got after market wheels..lol. But I do know I will have an after market grill and I need to do something about the brakes, there weak. There was water in the back part of the resivor, so maybe I just need to bleed them out. And I need to figure out the oil pressure. At idle its running just a little over 5 psi, at wot its at 25, I was told thats a little low, so I dont know. Other then that there aint nothing wrong with this truck. Oh wait a minute, I only have one headlight..lol.

Welcome from NH
Nice start you got there. |
Re: Hello all and some pics
if you are gonna be using it as a welding rig i wouldnt use blocks
i would use a add a leaf. then use a small block below it for leveling purposes.. good luck dude |

Re: Hello all and some pics
Thanks guys. What I am planning on doing is finding me some camper speacial springs and put add a leaf on them, along with some timbrens. that should help out with the weight. I just need it to warm up outside so I can work on it. lol. I hate not having a garage.
