Universal wiring kits

I'm getting ready to rewire my 65 with a universal wiring kit. Is one kit better than another. How difficult is it? I have done alot of car audio and alarm systems in the past...I think I can handle it.

With your experience, you won't have any issues with the universal kit, plus you have some flexibility with additional power accessories.

With my limited knowledge, I went with the factory replacement harness/fuse block. I purchase one from www.bowtiebits.com and a few from www.classicparts.com. I believe www.lmctruck.com and www.truckandcarshop.com, as well as, many other aftermarket truck suppliers sell the factory harness/block, so if you go this route I would check with a few sources for pricing, shipping and freight.

I hope this information is helpful and let us know how you make out with the re-wiring project.

Happy Holidays.

I have one of these to put in my truck http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EZ-WI...Q5fAccessories The wires really do streach from front to back too. Looks like a pretty well made harness also. I went with this harness because of power windows and other features that will be nice on the truck.

More expencive but good, mine is from Ron Francis. Hook up all accesories then run all wires to wherever you mount fuse box then start crimping connectors, its really clean because you get all wires longer so you can hide them better and a fuse panel made for your application.

I just picked up an American Autowire system for 40 bucks off C.L. Better than the 40 year old junk under the dash!!! I also have an EZ wire harness. You will have no problem installing the system with your experience.

I too need to rewire my truck as I'm sure I broke one of the crusty old wires today and now I get no power to anything. Has anyone ever made their own block instead of buying one?

CL got me a pretty nice deal on my truck, $950 for my C30 flatbed. Ran great until I messed with the wires today, they no longer have give in them, they're like bending copper pipe at this point. You can hear them cracking when you move them out of the way.
