hey guys,

My passenger hood hinge (1st two pics) is bent compared to the driver side hinge....should I replace or is there an easier fix??

Thanks

How tired are you of putzing with it? Does it open/close easily enough? Does your hood sit where it should when it is closed, or does it stick up on one side?

I don't know if you can straighten it w/o pulling it off, or not. But my opinion is that replacement is the only way. GM still has them, I believe, and for less than you'd pay an aftermarket supplier....if you know someone.

Here's the part numbers: RH 391-1706; LH 391-1705; Hood hinge spring p/n: 389-0741.

I've straightened them in place, lubed them up, and they worked fine. Thing about it is if you tried it the only thing you would have invested is your time . If it didn't work then you could replace it.... Like ChevLoRay said though, the correct fix would probably be to replace it with a good used one or a new one. If I was going with new I would want to replace both of them at the same time....

ChevLoRay...Thanks for the reply and the part numbers....They really haven't been a problem....just bent...The hood sits okay....jst a little up in the back, but I think it's due to the hood seal being new OR it could be a combo of the seal and the hinge/ springs...I did pick up some used hinges at the boneyard for $7 each....I think I'll have them powdercoated and replace them....I got new springs coming too....

Lockdoc....Thanks for your input...I have lubed them and tried to move them around but no luck...Great idea....I'll replace both of them....

Thanks again guys!
