removing grille emblem?

how do i remove just the grille emblem on my 01 silverado?

Open your hood and there should be a cover that goes from the core support to the grille held on by push clips, remove it. With that removed you should have room to get behind your bowtie. The bowtie is held in with either 2 nuts and some just snap in, I have seen both styles.
