Van Rear?

Are 67 to 72 Chevy Van rears the same as the 67 to 72 trucks? 12 bolt?? Are parts interchangeable?

G-series vans are different, I believe. P-series vans are similar, chassis-wise, to the C-series trucks.

i believe van rears have a greater offset to them than truck rears

Just wondering, as there is one for sale local for $50 & he claims it's a posi. Were the vans 12 bolts?

Yes the g20 van rears are 12 bolt. they are a leaf spring rear and the shock mounts are opposite each other LS Rear and Right side Front . So if adding to a truck you would have to change out all the perches but otherwise it should work. As far as a posi well would rather doubt it but you never know Oh of course there is no provision for a panhard bar so it would have to be mounted to the frame and lower shock plate. I would just find another one if it was me.

Wasn't looking to change the whole rear end. Just the inside posi unit. Wondering if it would fit into the present 12 bolt I have.

Sorry for the missunderstanding. I'm old

eaton made a posi for the 12P and 12T ends. they were both used in g-vans and trucks from the early 60's up into the late 70's maybe longer. I have never switched one personally but the Eaton catalogs call for two parts Might go to a rear end rebuilding shop if you have one close. The cases housing for the posi are differant for the gear ratios. Under a 3:42 uses one part number and for a 3:73 and up uses a differant case.
