Replacement fender/door question

first off, howdy!!! I'd registered before but have changed emails and have now way of retrieving my username and password... so I'm a n00b again :D

anyway.. I'm working on my 64 Panel... LONG story... but its become apparent that the time involved in fixing my doors and fenders would cost me about as much as a set of replacement metal... so the question is... who makes the best? I've seen complete doors for ~$400.

any help would be appreciated... pics coming soon, as is the rest of the story.

I cant say from experience, but from what Ive read on the board, theres alot of aggravation dealing with repops. Not sure how many junk yards there are around ya, but for every two here, ones got a 60-66 in it. I would try to find some original equipment if ya can stand to wait. Probably would be cheaper in the end as well... just my .02

Thanks Jonz.. I did have a few issues, but overall really happy with both doors and fenders. I haven't had an issue with the fenders yet. Got them from Goodmark, don't know where they got them from. Go thru my build link and pics in my signature it might help. Good Luck

OEM is always better than aftermarket.

The time you spend fixing china parts is more than fixing a decent OEM.

These trucks are not rare, find good parts to start with, and save the headaches.

Lots of yards up by Carmichael. That is the Sacramento area. Only problem is they really deal alot with newer stuff up there, but I am sure there are some old stuff somewhere. Welcom back...

It depends on how you want to spend your time. I had to cut some spot welds on one aftermarket fender to make it move in, then rewelded it. It was less work than welding in a patch panel on an OEM. Plus with a 40 year old OEM you are going to have some dents, and finding them takes a lot of time! I wish I had bought a replacement tailgate but I invested to much time taking out all the dents to do that.
