Project '67 Fleetside has begun.

Well Tuesday inauguration day started working on my 1967 Chevy fleetside. Will get to the shop today with pictures, but so far have to replace:

1. Raditor core support
2. Both LH & RH inner fenders
3. Both LH & RH outter fenders
4. Front bumper is good but getting chrome w/lights
5. Bought a '68 fleetside bed for $150 (going to media blasters)
6. Rear bumper from LMC chrome.
7. LED tail lights

Front cowl will get reworked covering the antenna hole.
Will convert split window to one piece with Brothers kit. (later)
Add power windows and door locks.

Adding Clifford 4 barrel intake and Holley 390 cfm carb.
Headers will be added soon as well.

Doors will be straighten as replacement is not necessary.

Getting close to what color to select. Was going with Black but it shows
everything and body has to be spot on perfect.

Orange is nice but its just not me.

Oh well will post pics once I get back from the shop.

Yeah that 'Cuda is one of the rare 6 packs! It's only a $100k Cuda. Who really cares!!! lol Honestly I can not wait to see it get completed. But mine will be done before his. As that will be one very rare number matching machine. Not mine! Not a purist at all.

The Kia - He works on used and Repo vehicles from used car dealers across the region. So there is no telling what you will see at this shop.

Anyway back to my project.

Got my replacement bed today.

Here are some picks of it upside down.

Mine is the blue one in rough condition.

It's been a while since my last update but here is what state my cab is in now.

These pictures show the cancer all cut out and and some new sheetmetal tacked in place.

Also new door skins are in place and front fenders mocked in place for fit test.

The bed was just going to cost way too much to repair. So I found someone with a '68 LWB bed for sale for $125 that will get worked over before installing.

As you can see by some of my great pictures.... that the bed was in pretty rough condition to start with.

Something Saved from the Crusher would have been a better name for this old "Grandpa's Truck". (Cranyon writing on the glove blox code ID. :smoke:

Okay since I really did not get a step-by-step break down of what camae off the truck 1st I thought I would just post some pictures of what I have on my computer and share with everyone here.

So if you see dupe pictures you will know that I did not read my own Build Thread very well. :mm:

Okay on with the picture history......

250 ci 6 banger. Has been taken out and will post for sale. (Please do not inquire about it here as I will break not break it up or post for sale here.)

Picture #2 is of the floor board passenger side. As you can see there it is again! The only friend this poor Chevy has....RUST. And plently of it. :(

Number 3 shows a close-up of under the Driver's Side Door and all that wonderful rust. (which by the way has been worked over and over to find good metal and lots of sheetmetal parts later looks like a truck again!!!!

It's a double secret on the power plant. But all I can give you is it will not be a standard V8.

Re: Project '67 Fleetside has begun.

Update!!!

One more week and the cab comes off the frame and it will be sent to the blasters!! w00t! :metal:

The suspension upgrades will be almost entirely Early Classic parts! Jeff is fantastic! As I have informed him my plans and has some very good insights on the directions of what I am planning and giving his thoughts. He is not trying to sell me, just instruct me how things works and why they work the way the do. He will most certainly have my business with customer service as which he has demo'ed for me over the phone.

Now instead of dropping 5" with coil springs (remember this is a LWB truck) it would be closer to 6" with the bed and gas tank back there. So will be shifting gears to 4" out back and 1" drop springs in front with 2.5" drop spindles. This way I will not have to worry about suspension travel on bumps, on-ramps via highways, etc. And the suspension will have enough movement to really do its job correctly.

Very excited at this point as the plan unfolds......

Please stay tuned as more will follow.

Cab Prep...about to be pulled

5 Attachment(s)
Nothing exciting here...move along.

Just getting the cab all disconnected and ready to to pulled very soon.

Then send off the frame for sand blasting.

Decided to keep my 3/4 rear axle housing and just swap out to 5x5 bolt pattern. That way I KNOW it will handle what horsepower I throw at it. :metal:

Plus I can swap out gearing a bit quicker as well. At least thats the future plans and hoping thats the case, but will look into that part later.

(Yes I have my 1970-72 Coil spring 12 bolt for sale in the For Sale section).

Enjoy and feel free to throw any comment or suggestions my way.

Cab about ready to be pulled

4 Attachment(s)
Everything but the steering is loose and ready for the cab to be removed.

Once cab is off the frame, both will goto Sandblasters' for prep work.

But first the front and rear windows will be removed. The rear window I can keep but the windshield I have to replace its just too far gone to even try to get scratches and fog out of it.

Thanks for looking!

making great progress, looks like it will be one to look out for. Although Im a bit baffled. Why cut and weld new panels, and do body work on the rear of the cab and paint the firewall and THEN send it to the blaster? Keep up the work, its nice to see these come back to life.

Well the back of the cab will not be touched by the sandblaster. At least I am hoping.

Yeah the firewall was just a test run as all those holes have to be filled in for that smooth look.

After the holidays hoping to get it to the blaster dude and let him work his magic.

Then we'll be ready to paint the frame and get it all sealed up.
