Saturday pics (1-24) Rescue mission!!

Hey guys! I think I've got a pretty good batch for you this time around. I guess after the title of this round I owe you a bit of a lead in story for these pictures. My wife and I have been friends with another couple for several years now. Kinda got to know them through mutual friends at car shows and cruise ins. Every so often my friend would get to talking about the old service station that his grandpa ran back in the 60s and 70s. It seems that Pops was quite the mechanic back in his day but unfortunatly he has since left us. Well, my buddy was left the contents of the garage and a couple pickups and a car. He's been mumbling about going to go get em for the last couple of years, but like most of us, time and space for projects always seem to run short. Well...I guess he decided it was time to make time to get started...

Odds are this one will surrender it's engine for the cause...will probably end up parting out the rest. (Please no emails or PMs...I'll be sure to pass on the info when the time comes)

Nother one...belongs to his great uncle.

I just noticed the rearend/coils/track bar location...I've never seen any like it...Of course I usually deal with lighter duty trucks.

Our target for the day! These were shot after it had already been pulled out of the weeds and trees. Amazingly solid considering it's been outside for so long. The grill, headlight buckets and Fulton visor were lying on the seat.

My bud said that his Pops used to send him to town driving this truck when his was about 9 yrs old.

Pops got all he could outta his Vise Grips.

Truck means business...

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...s/100_5690.jpg

And the car...

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...s/100_5694.jpg

He told me his Pops used to let him steer it when they took trips to Florida in it. Pops had to run the pedals though.

I didn't ask him how tall Pops was...

According to the numbers, this engine should be the correct one for the Biscayne.

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...s/100_5705.jpg

How many calls do you think the neighborhood placed to their "committee" before we got it outta sight?

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...s/100_5732.jpg

I'm telling you guys...He ran it like a pro!! Couldn't have been older then 8 or 9.

It was a big step for him to bring it home. He told me that he hasn't slept all week thinking about it! Now it's coming time to make out a game plan. He's been going back and forth between using an S10 frame or using the stocker. Either way it's getting a dose of airride and the running boards are going to touch the ground. Can anyone point us in the right direction as far as where to look for the components to make it scrape the ground?? He's got about three V8s that he's going to go through and select one suitable for duty in the pickup. It'll more then likely be backed up by an automatic. He's also tossing ideas up in the air as far as what to do with the body. My suggestion was to pull the front clip and the bed, set up the suspension, reinstall the body panels and run it as is. He said that doing it like that could be an option. He thought about running it like that a while and then having it blasted and sprayed flat black. He's also thinking of making her look showroom fresh. Whichever one he chooses, I feel it should be the one that's going to make HIM happy.

So...What would you guys do if it was yours?

I think it'd be neat to rebuild it the way it was back when pops bought it. By the looks of it, you're bound to find some more cool stuff in that garage, very cool stuff indeed.

Is that Biscayne a '65? I found these pics recently of a really nice one. Ah the potential... Oddly enough these pictures of this car were taken about 5 miles from my house.

Great pics as always man. I always look forward to Saturday nights so I can see the new batch of pics you have for us, that's actually kinda sad...need to find myself a woman. Love all of those trucks and wouldn't mind having one of the 47-53's. If it was me I would make the truck nice and shiny but that's just me. I love the '69 Camaro...that's tied as #1 on my dream car list with a 37/38 Chevy 5 window coupe. Hmm, with all those Mason jars on the seat it looks like someone was using the '68 for moonshine running. I could definately use the front clip off of that '68, or at least the hood and grill. Keep the pics coming and good luck to your friend on getting the rest of those trucks out of there.
