Having a problem installing a new steering wheel
I'm putting a new steering wheel on, and am curious as to how much the shaft should move in and out.Mine moves about a half inch.I need that half inch to get the nut back on and enough of the new adapter to seat in the splined shaft. If this movement is normal, how do I keep the shaft from moving back down when I put the plastic canceling cam and adapter on the shaft?Any advice would be appreciated.Thanks.

Re: Having a problem installing a new steering wheel
you mean the shaft moves up and down the column length? i dont think it should do that. i just installed rebuilt tilt column and mine has some slight side to side movement, but no vertical.

Re: Having a problem installing a new steering wheel
I just checked and mine has virtually no vertical play. I did have to push the parts together due to the springs involved. I also have an aftermarket wheel, but the amount of play shouldnt affect that...
