It's my turn for a Vintage Air Question
 

Okay, I'm using the OEM AC/ Heater control panel with cables. The instructions call for a control wire to go from the panel into the engine bay and connect to a heater control valve which is connected to one of the heater hoses.

I have a bulk head fitting on the firewall. So, there is a short length of heater hose that goes from the under dash AC/heater unit to the bulk head fitting.

So here is my question, instead of running the cable through the firewall. Can I move the heater control valve to the short length of hose under the dash?

I plan on calling Vintage Air on Monday, because it was too late to call them today.

If you can make it fit and are capable of shortening the cable I see no reason for it not to work. The only issue I see is that you're going to have a portion of hose on the interior that always has engine temperature coolant in it. Might make things a bit warm in the summer.

I just installed a vintage air unit in a 68 a few months ago. The unit we ordered was a special order that went out through the pass. side fresh air vent. Ran the hoses between the inner and outer fenders. I put the heater control valve inside the cab, just like you want to do. My hoses were already going to be running inside cab.Like ASA pointed out. I either had a shorter cable or i made a big loop in cable. Worked out great. Cleans it up under hood a little. Hope this helps. I have some pics. stashed that i have thought about posting on here.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I forgot you had done that! I mis-understood bulk head fitting to mean the cheap plastic piece that comes with the kit! Heck yeah, if you've got plenty of room for the control, DO IT!

Like STP said, as long as your cable doesn't bind, it will work fine. If you have some old factory cables lying around, one of them might be a better fit length-wise then.

How are you gonna' turn a wrench in there to tighten the fittings? I was gonna' do that but couldn't figure out how to get the fittings tight.
