60-63 GMC Suburban frame ?
First of all I'm new to this site and enjoy seeing all the projects and info. Will the 60-63 suburban body fit on a 64-66 GMC longbed frame, and what modifications if any. I found what I believe is a 62 GMC suburban with trailing arm rear end and torsion front end.

Re: 60-63 GMC Suburban frame ?
The body mounts are different. I took a suburban frame, shortened its tail, and made it into a shortbed truck frame. Frame is the same, mounts were not solid, but had rubber bushings in them. Regretably I dont have any pics to show this. Someone please correct me if im wrong ( yes, believe it or not, ive been wrong before:lol:) but i believe that the length difference is on the back half of the frame.

Re: 60-63 GMC Suburban frame ?
dunno about the length, but '60-'62 frames have torsion bars and '63-'66 are coil sprung and the same frame.....at least this is true on the trucks, dunno about the carry-alls..

Re: 60-63 GMC Suburban frame ?
The Suburbans and Panels have the same suspensions as pickups ('60-'62 with torsion bars) The typical Suburbans and Panels are the same wheelbase as a short pickup, 115". The Suburban and Panel frames have a little drop at the back to accomodate the back of the body instead of straight as on a pickup frame. Also if you were to put that '62 Suburban on a '63-'66 frame be it another Suburban frame or a pickup frame, all the body mounts from the B pillar back will be wider than the '63-'66 frame. Just like anything, it can be done if you have the skills and the desire to make it happen.
