some ?carberator? problems..
when i mash the gas pedal, the truck stutters for a second or two before it catches and keeps goin again...whats wrong with it? Sorry about the stupidity, still learning here.....
THANKS! (this ? was in another thread but figured id get more responses by putting it in a thread of its own..) |
Re: some ?carberator? problems..
what carb do you have? Are you talking about the truck in your signature? Could be any number of things, I would start with checking fuel flow (filters, etc.). details would depend on the details! If it is a quadrajet and the filter(s) are clean, I would start by setting the wind-up spring tension on the secondaries to about 7/8th turn after it contacts the butterfly. If the secondaries open too soon, it'll cause it to bog.

i have that problem sometimes too. i kinda fixed it by puting it up to 12' timing but it still kinda does it. i got a edelbrock 1411 (big block economy version) could it be runin rich/lean?

Good carb. Loose allen screw about one turn and set the spring tension. If it's still doing then it's probablly a check ball for accelerator pump is not sitting right.

Re: some ?carberator? problems..
okay,i looked for the allen screw, couldnt find it, about to check the filters.
accelerator pump, what exactly is that. point 406 im goin back outside to 70* weather to keep lookin! |
Re: some ?carberator? problems..
Ok, block choke open. With the engine off look inside the carb and open the throttle. You should see a steady spray of fuel.
